My goal as a writer is to foster dialogue about the visual arts in my community. For the last thirteen years, I have been a regular contributor to the Columbus Dispatch. I have also written for Dialogue, Sculpture Magazine, the CUE Foundation, and for CCAD publications. Essentially, I am a newspaper art critic. Functioning as a bridge between the artist and the public, my role is multifaceted in that it blends opinion, advocacy, reporting and education. Of these, education is my primary goal. I believe that effective critical writing should provide insight, context, and perspective. I refrain from letting overt bias enter my writing. Instead, my focus is almost always revealing the success or failure of artistic intent.
